"How Great Thou Art"

O Lord my God,
When I in awesome wonder
Consider all
The works Thy Hand hath made,
I see the stars,
I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy pow'r throughout
The universe displayed;
Stanza 2:
When through the woods
And forest glades I wander
I hear the birds
Sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down
From lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook
And feel the gentle breeze;

Stanza 3:
When Christ shall come,
With shouts of acclamation,
And take me home,
What joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow
In humble adoration
And there proclaim,
"My God, how great Thou art!"
Chorus:
Then sings my soul,
My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul,
My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art!
How great Thou art!

Has been and will always be my favorite hymn! My eyes water every time I sing it. This hymn describes my love for the Lord and my joy in Him exactly! I feel the closest to God when I am in the middle of his creation: on a mountain top, on the Ocean coast, hiking around hundreds of saguaro's, swimming under waterfalls,  in Africa, or anywhere where it's just me, God, and the world he created. The evidence of his handy work is written all over and truly shouts "How great thou art!" I loved getting to sing this song in a church not bigger than a shack with 40-50 people crammed into it; in a township in South Africa. I love hearing this song broadcasted over national television with a standing ovation of hundreds of secular country singers. In the past month God has truly shown me how great he really is by working directly in my life. He asks us to give up somethings in our lives that are good and have good things come and go; He is still there by our side when we feel completely alone. In the past couple weeks I have constantly been reminded of Abraham and Isaac and how he went up to sacrifice his own son without hesitation. He spoke to his son kindly along the way and did not express any bitterness towards God. But God was testing his trust in Abraham and he was proved to be faithful to his Savior. That is the beauty of his comforter, Christians are so blessed to have the Holy Spirit living in them.  Ps 24:18a The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart.
I can not wait to be able to give my days solely to serving God and praying that until then everyone will be able to see God's joy shining through in my life!

Great post Liz, I like you, feel that this song was written for me. Most folks fail to pay attention to all the splendor that God surrounded us with. He is in the smallest of the small and the greatest of the great in His creation. I have the utmost in faith that He has a work with your name on it. He will in perfect time lead you to His will for your life.
I am not sure that all on our trip are aware, but I have dedicated the rest of my life to the work of the Lord. I am trying to get everything underway with the mission that will begin in Burkina Faso. Keith is the missionary there and I hope to go in July to work with him doing some documentary work. We must have a presentation that will show the needs of the people. Please help in prayer, that we have discernment and guidance with this endeavor. I will pray that we can find those to help that would be of your caliber.

Well, the song, while amazing, didn't make me cry, but your post did. I love you, dear sweet daughter. I'm excited about what God is doing and will do in your life. Ma

Amen, Liz. What an encouraging post. And while I don't care much for Carrie Underwood, she did bring me to tears with this one. She sang it like she meant it and I think the crowd came to their feet not because of her but because you sit in the presence of a King. =]
